MOGA 2010
April 9 - 11
Mark Twain Lake
Indian Creek Recreation Area
MOGA 2010 is going to be the largest and busiest MOGA yet. The US Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis Area Geocachers Association, L Frank and Denmother, and the rest of the Moga Staff want to prepare you for a fun packed weekend like no other. SPACE is going to be our theme this year and we have plenty of it. Last year we had almost 600 registered attendees and we are expecting even more this year. We are returning to the Indian Creek Recreation Area (The site of MOGA 2007) with 100 new caches. This is not to mention the new park-n-grabs we are planning , and over 160 permanent caches from previous MOGA events. All of these new caches will be released sometime after Easter so you can come out and enjoy caching early.
NOTE:
- basic attendance is free although there are various additional registration levels (see below)
- as with all events, anyone attending may post an attended log to the cache page.
- participation in the competitions is not required.

This year we will have 7 registration levels. VIP, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Scouts, and Tin.

Couples Competition Two Person - $10.00 (Covers both people)
Team Competition Four Person - $20.00 (Covers all 4 people)
GEOCOINS and AWARDS:
MOGA 2010 is planning for TWO geocoins this year. One coin will be available to all attendees who want one. We are designing a special unique coin for this years event so watch this page for future updates. The second coin will be a special award coin just for the competitors. GOLD - for first place, SILVER - for second place, and BRONZE - for third place. There is also going to be a special COPPER coin minted for MOGA staffers only. If you would like to be on staff, there are a few positions still open.
Are your knees bad? Recovering from a new hip replacement? Is the Force not with you? Your wheelchair is not a 4 wheel drive model? Or you want to cache all day and STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET A COMPETITORS GEOCOIN? Now is your chance. Everyone who has a VALID REGISTRATION will have a chance to enter the MOGA 2010 POKER RUN. Starting Saturday morning, there will be special permanent caches hidden along the road with unique playing pieces inside. These playing pieces will be business cards from local businesses. Find all of the caches and you will be able to draw 5 playing cards and 1 Bonus Card. The registered cacher who has the best hand by Sunday at 1:00pm will win the Gold Geocoin. Second best hand will get the Silver Geocoin. The third best hand will get the Bronze Geocoin. We know some people may have to leave early, but don't worry, you don't have to be present to win.
COMPETITIONS:
The competitions will basically be the same as MOGA 2009 with the exception of the age groups. The age groups for the men's and women's individual competions will be the same.
* 29 and under
* 30 to 49
* 50 and above
The age groups for the team competitions will be the same as the individual competitions.
* 29 and under
* 30 to 49
* 50 and above
For the two person teams we will take an average of the two ages to determine which age group you are in. For the four person teams we will first use a three person majority (3 people are 30 to 49, that's the group you will compete with). If there is no majority then we will use an average (22+33+45+60/4=40). We changed this from the youngest member determines your group so we can get more 50+ teams involved.
We will also be using water proof punch cards this year to ensure we have no problems with the weather.
Remember! Every winning competitor receives either a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Trackable Geocoin.
FOOD:
A few people at MOGA 2009 had a problem with the times the meals were served, others about the prices, quality or quanity. We are addressing those problems for MOGA 2010 knowing we can't please everyone, but let it be known we make no money on the food. We have always been in the red when we pay the caterers so we can bring you the lowest price. This year you will have more options other than the catered meals: the Marina store will be open and the restaurants in Monroe City are only 20 minutes from MOGA 2010. Below is a list of restaurants in and around the area.

TRACKABLES:
With all of the activities during MOGA 2010, We WILL NOT have the time or the staff to have a properly run trackable table. Please do not drop your trackables into the event. There are plenty of caches in the area, including the SouthFork Travel Bug Resort to place your trackables in. We may even look into putting a Hotel at the entrance to Indian Creek Recreation Area.
PRIZES AND GIVEAWAYS:
We are contacting all of the major GPSr manufacturers and various other companies including Groundspeak to donate prizes to give away at our Saturday Awards ceremony. Everyone will receive an attendance ticket in their registration packet. Just put your caching name on the ticket and put it in the container associated with the prize you would like to win. We are expecting lots of stuff to arrive so keep checking the MOGA WEBSITE for details about what the prizes are and how you can increase your chances of winning.
MOGA! MOGA! MOGA!:
Resistance Is Futile, so mark your calendars for April 9-11, 2010! Schedule your vacations! Come out to MOGA 2010 and be a part of the first MEGA Competition in the United States.
